They say if you can’t beat them, join them, and Marc Cotterell knew from the start that the golden era ‘90s house sound could not be beat. Holding its place as one of house music’s most beloved periods, Marc happened to fall in love with the deeper house stylings of that decade in 1993. He’s been climbing the ranks of the zeitgeist's most valuable players ever since with his productions, Plastik People label, and Djing as leverage. When influential icons like Kerri Chandler are knocking at your door to personally say how much they love and play your releases, surely you’ve done something right. Having the hit-making New Jersey vocalist Tears Of Velva featured on “For Those We Love” certainly didn’t hurt & at the start of 2016 it was signed to the mighty Defected Records. Plastik People’s exclusive relationship handling the releases of another heralded artist is Playin’ 4 The City only further solidifies the level Marc is operating at.

Marc Cotterell’s productions have seen support from many other inspiring figures, regularly being charted by names like Jeremy “Underground Paris”, DJ Spen, DJ Fudge, Kiko Navarro, Rick Wade, Doc Martin, Fred P, Lars Behrenroth & Playin’ 4 The City. Those of his releases not reserved for his own imprint, have found homes with other respected labels: Defected, UK, Soiree Records (Detroit,US), 124 Recordings (Wales,UK), Kolour Recordings (Detroit,US), Minuendo Recordings (Spain), and Gents & Dandy’s Recordings (Belgium) among others. His work consistently makes its way into the top ten sales charts on Juno and Traxsource in both vinyl and digital formats. Traxsource’s owner himself, Brian Tappert, regularly relies on Plastik People releases in his Traxsource LIVE! show rotation, as well as featuring Marc on his Defected in the House Radio Guest Mix. Cotterell’s own boundlessly energized and soulfully charged DJ sets have been showcased by Chicago’s 5 Mag and Deeper Shades of House in their mix series. His abilities behind the decks have seen him play & hold residences in Spain, Bulgaria, Canada, and all over both his home nations, the US and UK. Marc’s more notable gigs operate as a checklist of some of the most hallowed establishments and heralded festivals around like Sonar, Detroit Electronic Music Festival in Spain, Plastic People, The Egg, Fabric, and The End (London,UK). Through Plastik People Records, which he founded in 2012, Marc has gone to bat for other artists he believes in. Alongside Olivier Portal AKA Playin’ 4 The City who is exclusive to his label, he’s also signed the cherished talents of Kiko Navarro, Reelsoul, Jazz ‘N’ Groove & Louie Balo.

Marc’s sound is a journey to the depths of U.S & U.K house & garage, stretching back to the early 90’s to present date. Marc’s knowledge of his sound is contained in the vast amount of vinyl he collects and the rare hidden gems he showcases at his Plastik People events and gigs across the globe.
